Abstract

This study addresses the challenges of computer crimes and prevention and repression tools in the digital age. It contextualizes the growing vulnerability of consumers on the internet and analyzes laws such as the Carolina Dieckmann Law and the LGPD. The general objective of this monograph is to investigate the digital connection and the challenges of computer crimes, highlighting national and international legislative developments and the different types of cyber crimes. Using a qualitative bibliographic methodology, the main results highlight legislative and technological advances, but highlight the need for continuous updating and international cooperation. Digital transformation, accelerated by the massive use of the internet and connected devices, has provided numerous economic, social and cultural benefits. However, this same transformation exposes individuals, companies and governments to new and complex types of crimes, which challenge traditional methods of prevention and repression. The results showed that cybercrimes, ranging from fraud and identity theft to sophisticated cyberattacks against critical infrastructure, pose a significant threat to users' security, privacy and trust in the digital age. These crimes not only cause financial and material damage, but can also compromise the integrity and stability of democratic institutions and processes. In this context, Criminal Law plays an essential role in defining, classifying and punishing these crimes, seeking to protect citizens' rights and guarantee social order. The analysis of legal and technological tools for preventing and repressing computer crimes is, therefore, extremely important to identify existing gaps in legislation and practice, as well as to propose necessary improvements and adaptations. Furthermore, the constant evolution of technologies requires a continuous update of security measures and strategies to combat cybercrime. International cooperation emerges as a crucial factor, given that the global nature of the internet facilitates the actions of criminals beyond national borders. Harmonization of legislation and collaboration between countries are essential for an effective response to these threats. It is concluded that an integrated approach, involving digital education and preventive and repressive measures, is essential for cybersecurity and user protection.
