Challenges and opportunities of working in the home office mode

The home office modality enables the remote execution of professional tasks, gaining prominence in recent years due to technological advancements and the need for adaptation to challenging scenarios such as the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, various sectors implemented the home office model, presenting both significant opportunities and challenges for organizations and professionals. This transition has transformed the traditional dynamics of the work environment. The primary objective of this study was bto identify challenges and opportunities in professional growth associated with the home office modality from the perspective of employees. The methodology employed was descriptive with a quantitative approach, using a survey research method. The research universe comprised individuals from the researchers' social media networks. Data collection involved the administration of questionnaires to 925 participants reached through various social media platforms. Results revealed negative impacts on physical and mental health, excessive workload, instances of team distancing, and the need for strict time management as challenges faced in the context of home office. Conversely, opportunities identified by respondents included the elimination of daily commuting, cost reduction, and schedule flexibility. In conclusion, this study emphasizes the importance of understanding and addressing challenges associated with home office to optimize opportunities and maximize benefits for professional growth.
