Abstract

This article aims to analyze the impacts of the General Law for the Protection of Personal Data on small and medium-sized companies in the technology area, in order to list the relevant information that is provided in Law 13.709/18, without any intention of exhausting the matter. Using deductive hypothetical research, it was possible to identify that the main purpose of the LGPD is to guarantee the fundamental right to privacy, since the digital age has taken on proportions that demand legislation that ensures the good use of each individual's personal data. Compliance with legislation by hosting and database management companies is mandatory, regardless of their size. It can be said that the financial costs for such adequacy, as well as the lack of knowledge on the subject, are factors that directly impact small and medium-sized companies in the segment, giving greater space to large companies.
