Abstract

Although the phenomenon is not something new to humanity, the covid 19 pandemic in 2020 was especially unique for companies, as it produced not only epidemiological repercussions on a global scale, but also social, economic, political, cultural and unprecedented in the recent history of epidemics. In addition to reducing the life expectancy of the male and female population. The main objective of this work was to carry out a study on the challenges and strategies adopted by transport and tourism companies during the covid-19 pandemic, which occurred from March 2020 to May 2023. The methodology used was of a qualitative nature, through a field research. To collect data, a semi-structured interview was applied. The research was applied to the directors of companies A, B and C in the transport and tourism sector in Itabira/MG. The results demonstrated the importance of management being prepared for global crises, as the existence of challenges such as: social distancing, travel restrictions, activity cancellations and financial losses were noted. In this way, the strategy was adopted to diversify services, deploy government resources and reduce costs. Having identified the aspects evaluated, both in practice and in studies, it is highlighted that the main problem was evident in the financial sector of companies, however they were less aggravating for those that had financial reserves.
