Abstract

The objective of this article is to present a study of criminal statistics on domestic violence in the State of Minas Gerais, analyzing the criminal indicators provided by the State Secretariat of Justice and Public Security (SEJUSP) of the State of Minas Gerais. The study will analyze the qualitative and quantitative data provided by the responsible body and the incidence of crime provided for in the Maria da Penha Law in the period from 2017 to 2022, including the Covid-19 pandemic and make observations with the public policies applied. The main objective of the study is to indicate that the use of criminal statistics alone is not capable of measuring the reality of the incidence of domestic violence and applying public policies to combat gender-based violence effectively. The work will point out the possibility of improving the action of public authorities regarding criminal statistics and main actions to combat domestic violence and its prevention, not only in a repressive way, after all, these data are used in ostensive planning, for police action and destination specific word for public policies. The methodology adopted brings an inductive method, through a qualitativequantitative analysis, in a descriptive and explanatory way, using bibliographic, ex-postfacto and survey procedures.
