Abstract

This article aims to analyze the discussions about the criminalization of abortion in Brazil in a legal and social way. As a result, the goal was to investigate the relationship between the subject and human rights, to understand the reasons that make the prohibition a public health problem, to question the effectiveness of the current criminalization, to make a comparison with the current legislation of some countries, in addition to examining the relationship between the banning and the cost to public coffers. The methodology used was the inductive method, with a quali-quantitative approach. About the nature, it can be defined as basic. The research method used was the bibliographic one.
