Abstract

This article aims to identify and understand the concepts of leadership as well as highli ght the characteristics of leaders in the current public management. Understand the perception of the leadership styles that are being used in a public organization in the state of Minas Gerais. A bibliographical research was carried out on the concepts of leadership styles and the tendency in the current times to lead and manage teams. In the second moment an exploratory research was carried out within the company where a questionnaire was applied to five managers drawn in a general quantitative of nineteen managers, being this a qualitative method of data collection. It is within this context that companies seek differentiated leaders, with diversified profiles and with ample capacity to maintain the focus beyond mediating conflicts of several categories, to be en gaged with the objectives of the company and, mainly, to deal with daily challenges, seeking to develop people and gain the confidence to achieve ever more corporate goals.
