Main changes brought by the “anti-crime package” within the scope of criminal law

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the changes introduced by Law No. 13,964/19 in the Penal Code and in the Law of Heinous Crimes. This law known as the "Anticrime Package" – is a significant piece of legislation in the current criminal context, as it has significantly altered Brazil's criminal justice system in response to a modern society characterized by widespread insecurity. Despite having entered into force in early 2020 with the intention of fighting crime, organized crime and violent crimes against people, taking into account public expectations and the interests of society, still bumping into the criminal law of the enemy. Bringing to the end of the study a more comprehensive perspective of the real changes that occurred with the creation of the law, in the practical scenario. In addition to demonstrating that in practice the changes that occurred did not achieve the initially desired objectives. The methodology used to develop the work was descriptive.
