The importance of biosafety in dentistry in times of pandemic

Abstract

Biosafety has been a matter of great international concern in the scientific community since the 1970s, since the beginning of genetic engineering. With the advent of the pandemic, this topic became known to the population in general, based on security measures to prevent, control, mitigate and/or eliminate the risks of contamination by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. In the dental environment, safety measures were no different, as they have always been of great importance, since the dental professional is in constant contact with substances that can spread diseases. With this, biosecurity plays a prominent role in times of pandemic, being the first point observed by the professional in the area and by patients.
