Abstract

This study investigated the impacts of animal rights on contemporary society, culminating in the proposal for the creation of a new specialized legal code. By tracing the historical evolution of animal rights, the research highlighted a paradigmatic shift in the perception of these beings, from mere objects to entities endowed with specific rights. The in-depth legal and ethical analysis revealed the intrinsic complexities of human-animal relationships, emphasizing the need for a more comprehensive approach to ensure adequate protection of these rights. The urgency for new laws and regulations was justified in light of the growing social awareness of animal welfare. The proposal for a new specialized legal code aims to fill normative gaps by recognizing the individuality of animals and establishing clear parameters for ethical coexistence between humans and non-humans. The research underscores the importance of legislation that keeps pace with social changes, highlighting the contemporary relevance of animal rights. The conclusion emphasizes the need for a detailed legal approach capable of addressing emerging demands in modern society. The creation of this new code not only reflects legal evolution but also reinforces the ethical commitment to respect animal life. In summary, this study significantly contributes to understanding the evolution of animal rights, providing insights for the formulation of policies that promote fair and balanced coexistence between humans and non-human animals.
