Dental treatment planning is crucial for clinical success, allowing for a detailed analysis of the patient's oral conditions. Radiographs, especially with the advent of digital radiography, play an essential role in diagnosing and planning complex interventions such as orthodontics and implants. Digital radiography enhances diagnostic accuracy, provides immediate visualizations, and reduces radiation exposure, making it an indispensable tool in modern dental practice. However, it requires careful interpretation to avoid errors that could compromise the patient's health. Despite its benefits, the high cost of digital equipment limits its adoption in smaller clinics. This study reviews the literature on the topic, emphasizing the importance of mastering digital radiographic techniques to improve the quality of dental care and optimize clinical outcomes, reinforcing the need to integrate them effectively into daily practice. Radiology has demonstrated a constant ability to adapt throughout its history, and it will continue to adjust to new technologies that will undoubtedly impact all fields of medicine and dentistry in the coming decades. If there is an area that has already proven its capacity to innovate, evolve, and reinvent itself, it is dental radiology.
