Abstract

The restoration of endodontically treated teeth requires technical knowledge in both endodontics and restorative dentistry, as well as the integration of clinical and biomechanical aspects of these specialties. Choosing the appropriate restorative treatment remains a challenge, mainly due to the variety of available materials and the complexity of the execution techniques. This study aims to analyze the importance of restoration for the long-term success of endodontic treatment, discussing the conclusions of various studies on types of intraradicular posts, preparation of the remaining tooth structure, and common failures that compromise the durability of restorations. The discussion also explores considerations on the use of ferrules, preservation of tooth structure, and new approaches in material use, with an emphasis on selecting the appropriate post to ensure the functionality and longevity of the restoration.
