Objective of this work and addresses the vital importance of site preparation within the fundamentals of civil construction, highlighting its essential role in the safety, durability, and success of any project. Proper soil preparation involves not only technical procedures, such as excavation, compaction, and drainage, but also a deep understanding of the applicable laws and standards, such as NBR 6122, which governs building foundations. Compliance with these standards is crucial to ensure the quality of constructions and to prevent legal and environmental complications.Additionally, the study explores various methods of site preparation, emphasizing the need to adapt strategies to the specific geological conditions of each location. The use of innovative technologies is identified as a factor that enhances the precision and efficiency of these practices. The paper also analyzes practical cases that illustrate the challenges faced by civil construction professionals, such as unstable soils and the need for slope stabilization, providing a clear roadmap for overcoming these obstacles. Finally, this study underscores that site preparation goes beyond a simple technical stage, requiring a strategic, flexible, and well-grounded approach. Technical knowledge, combined with compliance with standards and continuous innovation, is essential to ensure the success of construction projects in the civil engineering sector.
