Abstract

This work proposes to explore the treatment of domestic sanitary effluents, with emphasis on the use of anaerobic reactors followed by facultative lagoon and maturation lagoons. A literature review was carried out, complemented by an in-depth case study at a Domestic Effluent Treatment Station, to serve a population of 8,865 inhabitants. It was found that the use of anaerobic reactors followed by lagoons is highly effective in reducing pollutants. Thus, it is concluded that this approach is not only viable, but also brings significant benefits to the environment. However, it is crucial to emphasize the importance of adequate regulation to ensure the correct implementation and continuous maintenance of these practices.
