Abstract

The subject of this review is faith over expertise. The objective is to verify, based on the literature, the attributions and challenges of the surveying and cartography professional in the expert survey. The choice for the theme “Expert: attributes and challenges of professionals in the field of surveying and cartography” is justified due to the fact that engineering expertise contributes to carrying out assessments and analysis of certain factors in the sector, whether for the treatment of causes of accidents, real estate valuation, adverse possession, housing, mortgage, the other. In order to reach the proposed objective, the research methodology adopted is the bibliographic review, as it is a type of study that has the purpose of not only explaining a certain subject, but also generating discussions based on theoretical references already published in books, articles, electronic magazines, periodicals and other publications available for consultation. It was concluded that the duties of the professional in the area of surveying and cartography in the expert opinion are expertise, embargoes, repossession, adverse possession, maintenance of possession, division of properties, expropriations for the preparation of an expert report, expert evidence to compose the dispute judicial. The challenges involve the search for more accurate recognition as a professional essential to justice, which has led to a shortage of professionals in the area who work in expert reports.
