Escape ramp

Abstract

The infrastructure of transport systems in Brazil has been increasingly demanded due to economic growth and the need to sell products for export. In this context, the road network has expanded its capacity, and for this purpose new roads are created with better service levels, allowing for greater fluidity and interconnection with other modes of transport, such as railways and ports. Although there are rules in the Brazilian traffic code and which are generally followed strictly by cargo transport professionals, accidents due to mechanical failures have generated serious accidents on the highways and victimized many users. To mitigate this serious road safety problem, which occurs mainly on long stretches of slopes, it is extremely important that escape ramps be created for uncontrolled vehicles, which due to mechanical failures can create a safety risk for road users, causing damage materials such as loss of life and, materials with loss of cargo and obstructions of the track for long periods.
