Abstract

This article addresses oral cancer, classified as the sixth most common tumor globally, having a significant impact on public health. The research was carried out in an exploratory manner and sought to understand assessment methods, treatment and health problems related to the topic, focusing on surveying case studies of patients diagnosed with oral cancer. Carried out through research on Google Scholar and Scielo, an analysis revealed essential points for professional dental preparation, highlighting the importance of educational campaigns to encourage the early search for care. The study reflected on the need for early detection and reduction of risk factors, such as smoking and excessive alcohol consumption. In the context of public health, the urgent need for public awareness and professional dental training for the early diagnosis of oral cancer stands out. The importance of intensifying preventive actions, raising awareness about oral hygiene, and the need for training and awareness of health professionals emerge as fundamental elements for a more effective approach to the prevention and treatment of oral cancer.
