Orthognatic surgery and its intersection with orofacial harmonization
case report
Abstract
The clinical case in question is an intermediate-aged, potentially class III, who has presented aesthetically dissatisfied through her life. The first approach used for many years was orthodontic treatment, which was not able to comnpletely meet the patient's aesthetic-functional expectations. A new virtual planning, using software, was carried out to obtain a three-dimensional view and obtain a more reliable result from orthognathic surgery and maxillo-mandibular bone mobilizations. After 12 months, aiming to complement the surgery performed and to obtain better facial symmetry, harmonization procedures were carried out, through the application of botulinum toxin, jowl liposuction and bichectomy, optimizing the surgical result. After carrying out the surgical/orthodontic and facial harmonization procedures, the patient is being monitored and says she is satisfied with the result achieved.
