Abstract

The pathology that affects the alveolar bone plate, causing bone resorption, mostly in the buccal region and consequently root exposure of the tooth in the oral cavity, is called alveolysis. Its prevalence is in children between 2 and 8 years old, with a greater predominance of cases in the maxilla region, this alteration is directly related to caries disease or dental trauma. The present work aims to report a clinical case of a 04-year-old female child who presented alveolysis in tooth 61, with a history of caries affecting the entire coronary area and diagnosed as alveolysis of the apical fenestration type at the Newton University Center. Treatment performed was the extraction of this dental element. After surgery, the healing process was within normal limits and the successor tooth erupted. Thus, it becomes important for the dental surgeon to establish an accurate diagnosis for a correct clinical approach, restoring the patient's oral health.
