The present work describes the main aspects that involve the clinical case of the patient A.P.F.C, attended at the Famig school clinic – Faculdade Minas Gerais. This study aimed to evaluate the main complaints raised by the patient, and their diagnosis obtained throughout all the consultations carried out in the first semester, aiming, thus, to solve the problems and the functional alterations. The critical analysis of the literature allowed us to conclude that the patient has periodontal disease, and that the gingival margins are already affected, in terms of Miller's class II. Periodontitis diagnosed in the patient is a disease that affects the supporting tissues of the teeth, and whose aggravating factor is the presence of diabetes. Finally, if the periodontal disease is not treated, these can lead to the evolution of bone loss and, consequently, the loss of teeth, as well as causing lack of control in the treatment of diabetes.
