Abstract

It was a state of the art, based on a documentary-bibliographic study, based on the sucupira platform, building a radiograph of the periodicals A1, A2, B1 and B2 allocated in area 32 of CAPES - Social Work. Initially we present the methodological aspects, and then we take general data to build an archeology of the field of study. From this data we discover how our journal ratings reward - when we analyze the area of social work - at higher levels non-Latin American international journals than nationals or from Latin countries, relegating to our journals mostly the level “B” or below, which structurally suggests to us a functional colonial matrix in the legitimation of power and knowledge. By focusing on our country, we identified that certain regions and states have greater means for scientific production in Brazil, with larger numbers of journals. However, when we qualitatively analyze our final sample, by cutting national journals at level A1 and A2, we identify a more plural production of scientific articles, although also quite concentrated in the same spaces, may be from the growth of productions as a good indication. in the area of social work of productions that address the theme of public security in conjunction with democracy, even if there is in this scenario variations in the annual numbers of productions that combine these elements to build citizen security.
