Abstract

This research aimed to conduct a case study on the inclusion of people with visual impairment5 in a HEI (Higher Education Institution) in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte. Being studied, so the phenomenon of inclusion of people with visual impairment in the context of this HEI during the first half of 2013. And that it was possible to identify whether the adjustments made by this institution for the inclusion of students with visual impairments are indeed for the inclusion of these or just inserting them. Objectives of this research is that, in general, conduct an evaluation of the adaptations that the HEI have done in order to understand if they are to be included or insertion. And more specifically, we have: - know what techniques and methods used in teaching students with visual impairments; - assess the psycho-pedagogical support to these students; - check whether these changes meet the needs of students with visual impairments and consequently , included in the institution. About the methods adopted in this research, it is known that it was used a phenomenological methodology, with qualitative approach using a case study descriptive for the execution of this work. And to obtain the data in this research used a questionnaire open to visually impaired students and staff of the institution for obtaining primary data. As the application of the same personal application, in the case of students with visual impairments who agreed to participate in the study, and individual distribution for data collection with the employees of HEI. Already to get the secondary data was made use of literature on the subject. And to the analysis of the data collected was used fragmentation and comparison of the text obtained in interviews. The main results of this research it was found that the HEI are careful to maintain a direct channel of communication open and between them and their course coordinators, who seek help them at all. There is a constant demand and commitment to better serve them. However, the inclusion demands of the institutions that purport to this constant updating, and that meets HEI, even better, these students suggests that their faculty go through specific training to teach them.
