Challenges and incentives perceived by startups in the city of Itabira/MG

This article intends to demonstrate the context of startups in the economic and social ecosystem of Itabira and bring relevant information for future research. It aims to analyze and seek to bring a broader view of the scenario of startups in the city of Itabira/MG, highlighting as the purpose of the research the incentives and challenges faced by startups, and the contributions that these companies can bring to the local economy. For this purpose, three companies from the innovation and technology segment and a representative of the public power were taken as the object of study to carry out the data collection through a semi structured interview, being descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The results demonstrated the existence of incentive projects for startups, and as challenges the lack of qualified people and difficulty in the availability of time by managers to devote to a project with an unpredictable future, and it was also verified that government initiatives are a facilitator to get around the high taxes and bureaucracies of public power. Finally, it was reported that this innovative universe brings positive contributions to the city's economy and entrepreneurship.
