Abstract

The present study aims to encourage the use of analogies in the process of forming compound and derived words, using as support the textbook “Singular & Plural” and the social network “Facebook”. Our aim is to assist educators in the elaboration of devices capable of promo ting meaningful learning in Portuguese. We believe in this process linked to a network of similari ties and integrated into a web of information, that is, knowledge is connected to thoughts that are not always related to the cultured norm presented at school, but to social experience. Therefore, the analogy must reflect the sociocultural context of the subject and be plausible to make any sense of it. Our studies have repeatedly pointed out the use of the analogous process to avoid some difficul ty in expression, to obtain clarity, to highlight an opposition or similarity, and to understand an old or new rule. This means that for efficient understanding, the individual employs associations and comparisons that he did not always intend to say, however, by the use of analogies, he manages to communicate efficiently. Thus, we observed that there are possibilities for improvements in class room learning and we propose analogies between the social network “Facebook” and the process of word formation of the Portuguese language.
